Los Angeles (KNX) - L.A. Democratic Congresswoman, Maxine Waters, has been a steady voice maintaining that former president Donald Trump would be indicted.

LISTEN:

Turns out she was correct as a grand injury in Manhattan indicted Mr. Trump Thursday on charges regarding alleged 'hush money' payments made to silence claims of an extramarital encounter during his 2016 presidential campaign.

The Congresswoman tells KNX News she has been looking forward to this day, "and I think that, unfortunately, Mr. Trump earned it."

And while she agrees this is a 'stain' on American history, it doesn't compare to the events of January six, saying, "[Mr. Trump] has been staining history, not just today, but prior to the day in more than one or two ways."

In a statement, Donald Trump stated he believes this indictment "is a political persecution, an election interference at the highest level in history," more than implying this is a thinly veiled attempt to interfere with the next presidential election.

To this, Congresswoman Maxine Waters says, "he tends to create these lies in ways that will keep his supporters upset. And he doesn't mind who he goes after."

While some political officials might agree with many of the Congresswoman's sentiments, Richard Grenell, former President Trump's US ambassador to Germany, shared a slightly different perspective in his interview with KNX IN-Depth.
