From his hospital bed, 43-year-old Virginia father Travis Campbell has been urging people to get vaccinated for COVID-19.
"It’s hard making large mistakes," Campbell, a resident of Bristol, Va., said in a video posted to Facebook Friday. By then he had been battling the virus for more than two weeks, moving from a regular hospital room to a COVID ICU unit, according to NBC.

Campbell’s wife Kellie explained that they had put off getting the vaccine while they were moving.
"We just thought we were invincible and we weren't going to get it," she said. Campbell said in a Facebook post that his wife and children were also infected with the virus but dealing with it at home.
Now, Campbell is hooked up to breathing devices and his wife fears he may be put on a ventilator. However, it hasn’t stopped him from recording videos urging others to get their vaccines.
So far, he has posted several videos about his experience battling the virus, and responses keep pouring in. One Facebook message even indicates that his efforts convinced more people to get vaccinated at a local pharmacy.
"I pray that we can continue to focus on the fight of saving our neighbor and making sure they don’t make the same mistakes I did," Campbell said in Friday’s video.
His wife said her husband is "all about other people," and doesn’t want them to be in the same pain he has experienced. Campbell said in one Facebook post that he doesn’t want others to have to plan their funerals from COVID units when they could protect themselves with a vaccine.
