A Florida man is in custody after police say he shot a pregnant woman multiple times.
Vincent Steele, 50, allegedly was motivated by road rage after an accident on Business U.S. 41 North.
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said Steele was trying to merge into traffic when his vehicle hit a pickup truck, resulting in Steele’s vehicle spinning off and ending up on the shoulder of the road.
At this point, the driver of the pickup pulled over to see if Steele was alright.
In response, Steele emerged from his vehicle with a gun and shot multiple times into the pickup truck’s passenger door.
The passenger in the truck is pregnant with twins and was hit my several bullets, according to the MCSO.
After undergoing surgery, the woman, who is as yet unidentified to the media by police, is expected to survive, as are her unborn children.
Steele was charged with five counts of attempted murder.
