Police are investigating the deaths of four University of Idaho students as apparent murders.

The bodies were found Sunday at a home near the university campus in Moscow.

Officers responded to home just before noon after receiving a report of an unconscious person, according to the Moscow Police Department. Inside, they found the victims.

Police have released few details about the incident, but are calling the deaths suspected homicides. No suspect is in custody.

Authorities on Monday identified the victims as Ethan Chapin, a 20-year-old from Conway, Washington; Madison Mogen, a 21-year-old from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; Xana Kernodle, 20, from Avondale, Arizona; and Kaylee GonCalves, 21, from Rathdrum, Idaho, KREM reported.

The university tweeted Sunday night that there was "no ongoing threat." Classes were canceled on Monday and are scheduled to resume on Tuesday.

University of Idaho President Scott Green Green provided additional details on the victims, saying he was "simply heartbroken."

"Words cannot adequately describe the light these students brought to this world or ease the depth of suffering we feel at their passing under these tragic circumstances," Green said in a statement. "As Vandals, we come together and support one another through challenging times, leaning into our collective strength. Look out for one another now."

Chapin was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity majoring in recreation, sport and tourism management in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences.

Mogen was a senior majoring in marketing in the College of Business and Economics. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.

Kernodle was majoring in marketing in the College of Business and Economics. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.

GonCalves was a senior majoring in general studies in the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences. She was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority.

The school said more details will be released as the investigation continues.
