ARLINGTON HEIGHTS (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - An investigation is continuing after a 5-year-old girl was left alone on a bus in freezing temperatures Tuesday evening in the northwest suburbs.
It was about 14 degrees when the child was found around 6 p.m., left on the bus for more than two hours after being picked up from school to attend aftercare at South Arlington Heights KinderCare.
Police said it was the child's parent who called 911 from KinderCare.
The girl's parents says she was hospitalized for hypothermia and has since been discharged.
A KinderCare spokesperson said the staff member involved and the center director are on administrative leave pending an investigation.
No charges have been filed.
