SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) Some of the more eye-opening revelations that have come from the continued investigations by the Jan. 6th Committee have been the expenditures made regarding campaign funds.

One of those surprising expenditures was made to former Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle, who also happens to be the girlfriend of the former President's son, Donald Trump, Jr.

Guilfoyle – the ex-wife of California Gov. Gavin Newsom – was paid a whopping $60,000 for a speech that lasted just 2 ½ minutes at the Trump rally on Jan. 6, 2021.

That payout is just one of multiple payments made from what was labeled the "official election defense fund" in Donald Trump's many campaign mailers. The fundraising on behalf of "election defense" raised over $250 million, but according to the Jan. 6 Committee's investigation, the fund never actually existed.

Instead, the money was used to pay off campaign debts, with many of the payments going to Trump properties and members of his inner circle.

Guilfoyle has not yet commented publicly on the payment. The committee continues to investigate what direct or indirect role the former president may have played in the events that resulted in the loss of five police officers' lives and millions of dollars in property damage.
