Did you get together with a bunch of mask-less people to celebrate the Dodgers win?

Public health officials want you to get tested for COVID-19.

"People who have been part of celebratory crowds or they were in close contact with others, not wearing face coverings and not distancing, may have been exposed to COVID-19,” LA County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer says.

"They should all take the following precautions for the next 14 days: remain apart from others as much as possible, get tested and monitor yourself for symptoms of illness. If you know that you were in contact with a person who tested positive with COVID-19, please quarantine for the full 14 days even if you had a negative test result,” Ferrer says.

Ferrer notes case counts are rising and points to recent reopenings and sports-related gatherings.

The positivity rate is also going up likely due, in part, to a decrease in demand for testing.

"We have a lot of unfilled testing plots within the county and also within the city testing sites,” Dr. Christina Ghaly, the health services director, says. She says 40% of the county's slots are going unfilled.

"Testing is broadly available for those who need it,” Ghaly says.

The county's estimated transmission rate has dropped below one, which means new cases are expected to gradually decline.

Since the pandemic began, more than 303,000 county residents have tested positive for COVID-19 and more than 7,000 have died.
