To bone or not to bone.
That’s not a play on a Shakesperean bon mote (BONE mote?) from a 90s Pauly Shore film. It’s the central question of a new analysis conducted by Buffalo Wild Wings.
The research from the BWW wingologists… or maybe just a data analysis of the franchise’s orders nationwide… shows that boneless wings are ordered more often than bone-in wings in 27 of the 50 states in the union.
Boneless wings first matched the sales of bone-in wings nationwide 10 years ago. Now it seems they’ve taken the lead in over half the country.
Bone-in wings remain the most popular option across the south though, including in Texas, and all the way up the west coast.
Boneless reigns supreme across the midwest and in most states in the northeast.
Of course, boneless wings aren’t actually wings at all. They’re made from chicken breast meat. And they don’t have quite the caveman dining allure of biting meat straight off the bone that bone-in wings provide.
We’re still awaiting the numbers on how many wing-eaters prefer to use a fork and knife.
