While Walmart was able to reconvene most of the stars from the hit movie “Mean Girls” for its Black Friday commercial, the mean girl herself, Regina George, was absent.
In a recent interview with Variety, Rach McAdams, who portrayed George, explained why she decided to skip out on an appearance in the commercial that featured the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, Lacey Chabert, Daniel Franzese and Rajiv Surendra.
“I don’t know; I guess I wasn’t that excited about doing a commercial if I’m being totally honest,” McAdams said. “A movie sounded awesome, but I’ve never done commercials, and it just didn’t feel like my bag.”
McAdams also shared that she was unaware others were signed to do the commercial, which would have played a role in her decision.
“I didn’t know that everyone was doing it,” McAdams said. “I would, of course, always love to be part of a ‘Mean Girls’ reunion and hang with my Plastics, but yeah, I found that out later.”
The ad quickly went viral online, with fans exploding with joy over seeing the cast back at North Shore High School in a variety of different roles.
While there are still no plans for a sequel, the “Mean Girls” musical movie is set to hit theaters in January, though a new cast will take the screen.
