Milwaukee is getting ready for a massive influx of private jets at its Mitchell International Airport, as this July, top Republicans will flock to the city for the Republican National Convention.
The airport shared that it is expecting to receive around 200 or more private aircraft that will drop off convention attendees for the July 15-18 event.
Among those expected to travel to Milwaukee for the four-day event includes the presumptive nominee, former President Donald Trump.
So what will happen with Trump’s private plane and the others that land in the midwestern city?
Director of Public Affairs and Marketing at the airport, Harold Mester, shared with USA Today that while some of the planes will leave, many will be parking at the airport for the entirety of the convention.
“We are expecting a significant number of private aircraft to come into the airport,” Mester said. “We do have plans in place to park a significant portion of those aircraft.”
Mester says that to accommodate those extra aircraft, the airport will close two of its smaller, mostly unused runways, to park the aircraft. He added that it will be “full and quite busy.”
“We’re not going to have to turn anyone away, based on what we’ve seen from other airports,” Mester said.
