If you’ve dreamt of owning a Tesla but could never before afford one of the electric vehicles, this may be the time to buy one, as Hertz is planning on selling its inventory of Teslas for almost 40% off.
According to the company, new Tesla vehicles begin at more than $35,000.
However, Hertz recently listed 607 ex-rental Teslas, with several priced as low as $21,557.
The models being sold by the rental car company include the Model 3 and Model Y. The cars range from 2021 Model 3s, priced at $21,557, to 2022 Model Ys, priced at $40,886.
When all is said and done, Hertz is planning on selling 20,000 electric vehicles, winding down its previous efforts to convert a sizable portion of its rental fleet to EVs.
The company shared its plans in a regulatory filing last week, citing high repair and maintenance costs as the reason for ditching them.
Tesla vehicles have become more affordable in recent years, and according to Recurrent Auto, part of the reason is the increase in EVs on the market. In 2024, the company predicted that used EV sales would rise nearly 40%.
