President-elect Donald Trump is once again pitching the idea of the United States and Canada merging following the resignation of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Trump shared his thoughts on Truth Social on Monday, saying there would be no tariffs if the two countries became one.

“If Canada merged with the U.S., there would no Tariffs, taxes would go way down, and they would be TOTALLY SECURE from the threat of the Russian and Chinese Ships that are constantly surrounding them,” Trump wrote. “Together, what a great Nation it would be!!!”

Trudeau shared on Monday that he would resign from his office before general elections later this year, which polling showed he would lose in a landslide.
