Kamala Harris whiskey is flying off the shelves

Already a trailblazer as the first female, African American, and Asian American vice president, Kamala Harris' historic run at the White House has people across the country saying, "I'll drink to that!"

Bottles of "Madam" whiskey — a bourbon-rye blend with a portrait of Harris on the label — have been flying off the shelves since President Joe Biden dropped out of the race.

The whiskey is made by DC-based Republic Restoratives Distillery, known for politically-themed spirits like "Rodham Rye," inspired by Hillary Clinton, and "Dissent Gin," in honor of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

The distillery ran out of its entire supply of Madam, 300 bottles, within 24 hours of Biden dropping out and have sold hundreds more since, the Washingtonian reported.

The whiskey was actually created for the 2021 inauguration, when Harris cemented her position as the highest-ranking female official in US history. It's a blend of 8-year-old bourbon and 6-year-old rye.

Republic Restoratives describes Madam as having "notes of pink peppercorn, baking spices like cinnamon and allspice, butterscotch, candied orange peel, and a wisp of smokey depth. Your first sip carries hints of vanilla and caramel creme followed by dried plum and cereal grains."

"Most people don't blend finished bourbon and finished rye, but there's no reason not to," co-founder and CEO Pia Carusone told the Washingtonian. "We were looking at something that would feel like something maybe you’ve seen before but also be at its core different."

"It takes you on a journey for sure," she added.

The bottle features a portrait designed by DC artist Lex Marie, which shows the VP in a salmon pink blazer and pearls as a nod to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, surrounded in a gold frame.

"Outspoken. Disruptive. American," the label declares. "Madam is a tribute to the outspoken and disruptive, who blaze new trails and shatter glass ceilings. It's a celebration of those who inspire us to resist and persist. Here's to you."

The whiskey is so popular, it's currently only available for pre-order at $89 per bottle. The next release is expected on October 7.
