President Joe Biden cracked a smile and a chuckle at the expense of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) on Wednesday night after the congresswoman falsely blamed Biden for the death of two brothers who overdosed on fentanyl.

Biden was speaking at a gathering of House Democrats in Baltimore when he said that the more Greene makes talks, the more Republicans will be “running our way.”

“Isn’t she amazing? Whew,” Biden said.

Greene was discussing fentanyl on Wednesday during a House committee meeting, calling the Biden administration a failure for letting the drug onto American streets.

During the discussion, she talked about the death of two Michigan brothers, Caleb, 20, and Kyler, 18, Kiessling. While Greene placed blame for their deaths on President Biden, the two brothers died in July 2020, under President Donald Trump’s administration.

“I was the reason. She was very specific. I shouldn’t digress probably. I’ve read she was very specific recently saying that a mom, a poor mother who lost two kids to fentanyl, that I killed her sons. Well, the interesting thing: That fentanyl they took came during the last administration [hee-hee],” Biden said on Wednesday.

While the congresswoman had mixed up her dates when trying to make her point, critics of the president were still quick to call him out for the comments and for chuckling about it.

“@POTUS needs to apologize for this immediately. No person, let alone the president of the United States, laughs when speaking about a mother who lost two sons to fentanyl poisoning,” Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) tweeted.

Others among the conservative media and the Republican National Committee called out Biden, saying his laughing about the situation was “vile” and “disgusting.”

The mother of Caleb and Kyler, Rebecca Kiessling, testified before the House Homeland Security Committee on Tuesday, asking for more to be done to fight fentanyl imports, as the drug claimed the lives of 71,000 Americans in 2021 and has continued to increase since 2018, the CDC shared.

“If we had Chinese troops lining up along our southern border with weapons aimed at our people, with weapons of mass destruction aimed at our cities, you damn well know you would do something about it,” Kiessling said. “We have a weather balloon from China going across the country. Nobody died, and everybody’s freaking out about it. But 100,000 die every year, and nothing’s being done. Not enough is being done.”

Following the testimony from Kiessling, Greene blamed Biden for the brother’s deaths in her tweet.

As for the president’s take on the drug, Biden touched on fentanyl during his State of the Union address, calling for more to be done while GOP members began jeering him, saying, “It’s your fault.” Greene also yelled during the moment, screaming “China” at the president.

“So let’s launch a major surge to stop fentanyl production, end the sale and trafficking, with more drug detection machines, inspection of cargo to stop pills and powder at the border,” Biden said.
