Twitter has permanently suspended the personal account for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene after the company said she had "repeated violations" of its COVID-19 misinformation policy.
The social media giant made the announcement in a statement on Sunday, discussing its reasoning for the suspension.
"We permanently suspended the account you referenced (@mtgreenee) for repeated violations of our COVID-19 misinformation policy," Twitter said in a statement. "We've been clear that, per our strike system for this policy, we will permanently suspend accounts for repeated violations of the policy."
While Greene's personal account is no longer active, it does appear that her professional account, @RepMTG, has not been suspended. Twitter has also not shared what was tweeted to earn her permanent suspension.
Greene's office released a statement on Sunday saying she was suspended for tweeting statistics from the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, NBC News reported.
VAERS is a part of the Department of Health and Human Services, and anyone can report adverse effects to them. However, the agency says it is "not designed to determine if a vaccine caused a health problem."
Twitter's policy, enacted in March of 2021, implemented a strike system for violations, with five or more strikes resulting in a permanent suspension.
A single strike may not incur an action, however, the company could lock an account that repeatedly violates the policy.
In her statement, Greene called out the social media company and vowed to take them down.
"Twitter is an enemy to America and can't handle the truth," Greene said. "That's fine, I'll show America we don't need them and it's time to defeat our enemies."
In 2021 the Georgia Rep. was suspended multiple times for violating the company's policies, including last January when she said there was widespread voter fraud in Georgia.
