A former middle school teacher in Maryland is facing charges for alleged sex acts with students.
Melissa Marie Curtis, 31, was arrested Tuesday and charged with multiple sexual offenses for engaging in sexual acts with a minor.
Police say the alleged abuse started in 2015 when Curtis was 22-years-old.
"The incidents continued for several months while the victim was a student at Montgomery Village Middle School, and Curtis was a teacher at the same school," the Montgomery County Police Department said in a statement.
The victim, now an adult, came forward with accusations last month. Police said only that the victim alleged he "engaged in sexual acts" with Curtis.
According to WTTG-TV, which obtained an arrest report, the alleged abuse happened inside a school, in Curtis' vehicle, and at various residences when the victim was 14. The report says Curtis "provided the victim with alcohol and marijuana and that she had sexual intercourse with him more than 20 times when he was in eighth grade."
All the incidents took place within Montgomery County, police added.
Investigators believe there may be more victims. Curtis was a teacher for approximately two years in Montgomery County and taught at Lakelands Park Middle School as well, police said.
Curtis turned herself in on Nov. 7 and is currently awaiting a bond hearing. She's charged with sexual abuse of a minor and multiple counts of third and fourth-degree sexual offenses.
