On Monday a federal judge ended the mask requirement on planes and public transportation, giving the opportunity for those uncooperative customers the chance to fly on certain airlines once again.

Henry Harteveldt, Travel Industry Analyst & Strategist Founder of San Francisco based Atmosphere Research Group, explained to KCBS Radio that there were two lists of people who were banned from flights. The first being people who were kicked off for not wanting to wear a mask and the second was those who became physical for refusing wear a mask.

"The first group, the folks who just refused to wear the masks and may have been uncooperative and got thrown off they were told you will be banned as long as the mask mandate is in effect," Harteveldt said.

Now that the mask mandate has been lifted those people can fly again. For those still not eligible to fly because they were physical with other passengers and flight attendants, some airlines including Delta Airlines will speak with them individually about proper etiquette.

"We are going to make sure they understand what behavior is acceptable and not and if they violate that behavior they are all being told they will not be allowed to fly the airline again ever," he explained.

Harteveldt understands the union's concern and pushback for allowing these passengers the opportunity to fly again.

"They're saying these people may have been verbally harassing the flight attendants they were not cooperative and they are concerned that their union members will be put in harm's way again," he said.

With the mask mandate no longer in effect, he believes fewer problems will arise and if everyone behaves themselves on the plane there should be no issues.
