Police in Florida arrested and charged a West Palm Beach woman with murder on Sunday after initially being notified that she had been climbing a tree naked.
The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office shared that 34-year-old Sheree Williams was arrested and charged with first-degree premeditated murder after they found the body of a woman who was strangled with a cord in her apartment on Sunday.
Investigators with the sheriff’s office shared that they received a call on Sunday stating a woman was running around naked and climbing a tree in the city.
Detectives arrived at the scene and found Williams hiding in a pipe within a canal just down the street from her apartment.
The sheriff’s office shared that Williams told police “people were trying to kill her and that demons were in the sky.”
Police took Williams into custody before they found the victim’s body in her apartment. After an interview with investigators, the landlord of Williams’ residence shared that there were some issues leading up to the incident.
The sheriff’s office shared that the landlord said Williams appeared to be “nice” and was renting a unit with her son, who is eight years old. However, he said that last weekend, she called him saying she was seeing things, and he described her behavior since then as being strange.
A motive has not been shared at this time, but police shared that an investigation is ongoing. The victim’s name has not yet been released. Williams is due back in court on May 18.
