(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The Air Jordan launched a sneaker revolution, and now you'll have the chance to bid on the prototype.
Like everything connected to Michael Jordan in his prime, Nike shoes were a phenomenon.
A pair of 1984 prototype Jordans have hit the online auction block.
Michael Russek, director of operations and vice president at Grey Flannel Auctions, said the shoes were a gift from Nike to a basketball coach from Oregon.
“The coach was actually gifted the sneakers by Nike for allowing his players to wear some of his samples and test out the wear patterns on them,” Russek said.
The shoes are black and red with the words “Air Jordan” in black lettering. The left sneaker is size 13, and the right sneaker is size 13.5, made to Jordan's specifications.
“These are the prototype samples that were created by Nike when they were first pursuing Jordan,” Russek added.
Bidding runs through June 9 at greyflannelauctions.com.
