Pentagon’s UFO investigation initiative provides no evidence of alien life so far

The Pentagon’s efforts to investigate reports of UFOs has not led to the discovery of extraterrestrial life visiting Earth, according to senior military leaders.

During a hearing last May, the initiative began when Pentagon officials told members of the House Intelligence Committee that the Defense Department would like to start investigating UFO sightings.

“Our goal is not to potentially cover up something, if we were to find something,” Defense Department intelligence official Ronald Moultrie said at the time. “It’s to understand what may be out there, examine what it may mean for us.”

However, those efforts investigating unidentified objects have not yielded any results, no matter where the reports say the objects are. But, there have been hundreds of new reports since the launch of the initiative, officials shared.

Moultrie spoke on Friday, saying that from what he has investigated, there have been no indications suggesting “that there has been an alien visitation, an alien crash or anything like that.”

The Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office shared more information on the status of the UFO investigations. The office’s director, Sean Kirkpatrick, said that while nothing has been discovered yet, the possibility of potentially identifying alien life has not been ruled out.

“I would just say that we are structuring our analysis to be very thorough and rigorous. We will go through it all,” Kirkpatrick said at a news conference. “And as a physicist, I have to adhere to the scientific method, and I will follow that data and science wherever it goes.”

So far, the AARO is investigating reports of unexplained activity around military installations, restricted airspace, and other areas of interest. While the office isn’t ruling out the possible discovery of alien life, it is more so focused on potential threats to the U.S.

In May, the number of reported cases was at 400, a massive increase after the Defense Department worked to destigmatize reporting potential unidentified aerial phenomena.

In the recent Defense Department funding passed in Congress last week, the Pentagon was called on to prepare a report looking at its historical record of the U.S. government related to UAPs, or UFOs.

“That is going to be quite a research project,” Kirkpatrick said.

The report would go back as far as 1945 and involve the research of all records, including one highly classified that few know of, officials shared.
