A family in Butler County, Pennsylvania, lost their home on New Year’s Eve to fire, a fire that was started by their pet pig.
Autumn Painter tells KDKA Radio her parents’ house in Brady Township went up in flames after their pot-bellied pig, Albert, pushed his hay a little too close to a heat lamp.
Painter says her parents Thomas and Margaret were able to get out safely along with a dog and three cats.
Unfortunately, two other cats did die in the fire. Painter says her cat of 17 years died and another one had to be put to sleep the day after due to smoke inhalation.
Albert was sent to a veterinary clinic in Ohio to be treated for smoke inhalation and burns.
The pig will then be sent an animal rescue in Beaver County.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help the Painter family after losing their home.
"If you are able to donate anything to help my family get back on their feet they would greatly appreciate it. If not, they could really use all of the prayers possible right now," their daughter wrote on the fundraising page.
