(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Tortoises don't move very fast, but one is still proving very elusive in Chicago's northwest suburbs.
Bloomingdale Police have posted a lost pet notice on their Facebook page, which is from a family saying their pet tortoise Shelly has not been seen since July 26.
The tortoise, which is about six inches around, was allowed to wander around the owner's yard and apparently made a getaway, most likely a slow one.
The owner says they have had Shelly for more than 15 years.
“He may be in your yard, possibly hiding, or burrowed under one of plants or shrubs,” the notice says.
Shelly is described as friendly and not prone to biting.
