SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – After fleeing from the scene of a stabbing, a man drove a pickup truck directly into the doors of the Elko County Sheriff’s Office in Nevada Saturday, said authorities.

They identified the motorist as 28-year-old Zachary Pawlik.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to a reported stabbing at a residence in Kittridge Canyon. On the way to the scene, they learned that the suspect had fled in a tan Ford pickup truck.

Elko Police Department officers spotted Pawlik going westbound on Idaho Street and attempted to conduct a traffic stop of the vehicle. At that point, the suspect tried to “elude the officers and a vehicle pursuit was initiated.”

In addition to the Elko department and the sheriff’s office, Nevada State Police joined in the pursuit. Eventually, Pawlik “chose to ram the vehicle into the main entrance doors of the Sheriff's Office,” said the office.

He was arrested and charged with “Felony Eluding Police, Driving Under the Influence, Domestic Violence with a Deadly Weapon, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Malicious Destruction of Government Property, and multiple traffic violations,” per authorities.

As of Tuesday, Pawlik was an inmate at the Elko County Jail.

This isn’t the only destructive police chase recently. Just this week, Audacy’s KNX Radio reported on a puppy being thrown from a car during a Los Angeles, Calif., police chase and a drunk driver who crashed into a Texas courthouse.

Last week, WWJ reported on a man disguised as a Walmart employee leading cops In Michigan on a police chase and there was another report related to attempted murder suspects sending cops on a chase in California. Last month, WCCO in Minneapolis reported on a car chase that ended when the suspect drove off an overpass.
