The bodies of three young children and their mother were recovered from a lake in the north metro in what authorities say appears to be a triple homicide.

The situation began late Friday morning when authorities responded to a call of a suicide at a mobile home park on the 1300 block of Pearson Drive in Maplewood, and that a woman had left the area with her children.

A man's body was found at that address, according to Maplewood police.

The three children who were pulled from Lake Vadnais apparently are all under the age of five, according to Ramsey County sheriff Bob Fletcher.

Lake Vadnais is located north of the intersection of Interstates 35E and 694.

The woman's car was found near the lake around 4:00 p.m. Friday

Fletcher said the childrens' shoes were also found on the lake's shore.

The last of the bodies were recovered from the lake late Saturday morning. The names of the victims have not been released by the authorities yet.

"There's nothing more tragic than the loss of young children," said Fletcher.
