SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – The “world’s largest lotto prize ever offered” was left on the table on Saturday night when the Powerball was again left without a winner, pushing the pot to $1.9 billion.
The next Powerball drawing is set for Monday and will carry the largest prize ever for one — or multiple — winners, according to the California Lottery Association.
Tickets are $2 per play, sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.

Powerball had dubbed Saturday’s estimated $1.6 billion prize the largest the world has ever seen, but gamblers across the country were left with no winning tickets. The lump sum option for Saturday carried an estimated $782.4 million.
The lump sum broke the world record for the Largest National Lottery Jackpot in the Guinness World Records,” California Lottery tweeted Saturday before the drawing.
Saturday’s lack of a victor now ties “the game record for the number of consecutive drawings without a grand prize winner,” according to Powerball.
There have now been 40 drawings for the lottery jackpot since there was last a winner in the first few days of August.
But, those planning their first purchase, or purchases, shouldn’t get their hopes up as the odds of winning the massive prize remain at 1 in 292.2 million.
The Powerball now holds the top three largest jackpots ever, with the previous Guinness World Records, “Greatest jackpot in a national lottery,” going to the Powerball in January 2016. The drawing had three winners split the $1.586 billion jackpot.
