On Wednesday, President Joe Biden was caught on a hot mic dropping an F-bomb while meeting with Fort Myers Beach Mayor Ray Murphy during his trip to areas in Florida that were hit hard by Hurricane Ian last week.
While greeting Murphy, the president said, "nobody f— with a Biden," before he toured the hurricane-damaged Florida city.
Murphy replied, laughing, "Yeah, you're go----- right."
The mayor spoke with NBC News after the remark from Biden, calling it "salty language" but saying he was okay with it.
"We're both Irish Catholics. We're both devout Catholics. But every once [in] a while, a little salty language comes out," Murphy said.
He continued saying that it "didn't faze" him, adding, "that's just the way two guys talk to each other from our respective backgrounds."
Murphy said that the conversation and remark weren't about anyone in specific. Instead, it was just the two men talking and being friendly.
The White House has not commented on the president's comments. However, press secretary Andrew Bates retweeted the hot mic with the president as "Dark Brandon," a meme circulating about the commander-in-chief.
While speaking in Florida alongside Governor Ron DeSantis, Biden announced that he would be extending federal emergency relief he enacted before the storm, making it available for 60 days.
"Today, we have one job and only one job, and that's to make sure the people in Florida get everything they need to fully thoroughly recover," Biden said. "We're here today because we wanted to tell you in person that we're thinking of you and we're not leaving. We're not leaving until this gets done."
Political differences seemed to be on hold as DeSantis praised the president and the cooperation and work done by all levels of government.
"One of the things that you're seeing in this response: We are cutting through the bureaucracy. We are cutting through the red tape, and that's from local government, state government all the way up to the president," DeSantis said Wednesday.
