According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a puppy thrown out of a car amid a police chase “emerged unharmed.”
Police were in pursuit of a suspect wanted in connection with charges of attempted murder and carjacking on Friday afternoon when they say a Michael Kors bag was thrown from the vehicle they were chasing.
Inside the bag was a puppy.
“Miraculously the dog emerged unharmed and was rescued by responding LAPD officers,” the LAPD’s public information officer wrote in a tweet. “The puppy is now in the care of South L.A. Animal Services, where it is presently being held pending an investigation into the abandonment concern that was noted during the pursuit.”
The chase spanned several cities and ended in Carson, Calif., where three suspects were apprehended.
Gustavo Alvarez, 27, and Lynette Moreno, 27, of Los Angeles, and Michelle Zamudio, 25, of Santa Monica, were all taken into custody.
Alvarez was wanted for attempted murder and carjacking from an incident on March 26. He is being held without bond.
Moreno and Zamudio allegedly “set up” and drove a getaway vehicle, according to LAPD.
Both have been charged with evading police. Moreno was also charged as an accessory. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
