It’s October 21. December 25 is still over two whole months away. We’re still more than a week out from Halloween, and the Thanksgiving hurdle also lies ahead. So you’re well within your rights if you intend to keep Christmas off your radar for a bit longer.

But new reports indicate that, if you celebrate the season, you may want to at least sock a little more money away than you were planning.

Christmas trees, that staple of living room holiday décor for many Americans, are likely to be more expensive in 2022.

How much more expensive? A new report by the Real Christmas Tree Board discovered that prices could rise anywhere from 5 to 15% over last year.

The board spoke with 55 wholesale growers, and plans for at least some increase in price was relayed by 71% of those surveyed.

The reasons for the price hike are familiar to anyone who has bought pretty much anything in the last two years: supply chain slowdowns, rising costs and, of course, inflation.

And so ends this urgent Christmas message. Please feel free to return to spooky season for another 10 days.
