Sisters Jennetta Archer and Jennifer Taylor got a shocking surprise when they arrived at Hunter’s Funeral Home in Ahoskie, N.C., to say goodbye to their mother. Upon opening the casket for the viewing, they found a different woman in the coffin wearing their mother’s clothes.

“There’s no similarity in the person,” Jennetta Archer told WAVY-TV.
“Their size was way off. When the first person had the clothing on, she was swimming in the clothing because she was so small compared to my mother.”

To make matters worse, the sisters say when they reported the mistake, workers at the funeral home tried to insist that it really was their mother in the casket and only admitted the mix-up when their mother’s body was found in the embalming room.

With that discovery, the bodies were switched and Mary Taylor’s viewing was able to continue as planned.

The funeral home’s lead embalmer later confirmed to WAVY that a mistake was made but refused to appear on camera, also saying they tried to call the sisters to talk about what happened.

The sisters say they haven’t received any calls since the incident.
