Southwest Airlines experienced widespread delays over the weekend – again.
Last Friday nearly half, totaling about 1,000, of all Southwest flights were either delayed or canceled, according to flight-tracking website, Flight Aware.
As of Sunday, the number reached about 1,533 delayed flights, around 42%.
Airline officials blamed weather for the widespread service disruption. There were thunderstorms throughout large portions of the country.
This is the second time this month that the airline has dealt with this issue.
"Friday I guess it started," said Robert Bradley, from Benicia in Solano County, who was flying from Oakland International Airport to Maui for his daughter's wedding.
"It was definitely a concern of ours," said Bradley of the delays. "But as far as this morning goes, they say our plane flight is on time, so that's good."
More issues are likely to arise as airlines are being stretched to the limit this summer.
Many excited travelers are jetting off in droves, some for the first time since the pandemic started.
