(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - One of the tornados that touched down in the area Tuesday night, yet to be officially confirmed by the National Weather Service, was captured by a Northwest Indiana storm-chaser.
Paul Goddard runs the internet news operation Region News Source.
He was live on Facebook when a tornado was forming. Viewers could see what clearly looks like a tornado, moving from Hammond toward East Chicago and Gary.
“It went over the East Chicago police station, near Cline Avenue. We believed it touched down in between the two hills and was on the ground for approximately a thousand yards before it crossed into Lake Michigan and turned into a water spout from there,” Goddard said.
He was about a half mile away.
It was his first, he said, in ten years of storm-chasing.
