The marketing team for former President Donald Trump has done it again, this time with a new limited edition hat that says “TRUMP CAUCUS CAPTAIN” on the front.
Only 2,000 of the white hats with gold embroidery were made and quickly given out in Iowa as Trump held several campaign events throughout the state before Monday’s caucus.
The hats were seen in the crowd at Fox News’s town hall for the former president, along with the usual red “MAGA” hats that have become synonymous with Trump’s base.
However, the white and gold hats carry some significance, as they weren’t sold but instead given to Trump campaign precinct captains.
Those who were titled Trump caucus captains had to go to an hour-long training where they were asked to name ten people who were going to support Trump on Monday night.
Caucus captains also had several conference calls where they received materials to help them canvas and campaign for the former president. They also have a chance to win an invitation to a Trump event at the Republican National Convention.
Melissa Davis spoke with Politico about the hats and being a precinct captain, saying she had hers signed by Trump at his campaign headquarters. She also shared she’s been attending as many of the events as possible to help get commitments from people.
“It’s been invigorating to be able to try to help my president get reelected,” Davis said.
