Toyota is recalling about 280,000 pickups and SUVs because the vehicles may "creep forward" while in neutral.
In a recall notice posted Wednesday, the automaker said certain parts of the transmission may not disengage entirely when in neutral, allowing some engine power to continue passing through to the wheels.
As a result, the vehicle could "inadvertently creep forward at a low speed when it is on a flat surface and no brakes are applied, leading to an increased risk of a crash."
The recall includes certain Toyota Tundra, Sequoia and Lexus LX 600 vehicles manufactured between 2022 and 2024.
The automaker didn't mention whether any crashes or injuries have been caused by the issue.
Toyota will inform the owners of recalled vehicles by late April and update the software for the transmission.
