Former President Donald Trump canceled a rally in North Carolina that was scheduled for Friday in Greensboro after a report that he, his son, and his daughter are scheduled to testify under oath as part of an investigation into Trump's finances, according to The News & Observer.

In addition to the canceled rally, a new New York Times/Siena College poll showed that nearly half of the Republican Party's primary voters are looking for someone different as their 2024 presidential candidate.

If the Republican primary was held today, 49% of voters would stick with Trump, while 25% said they'd vote for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Additionally, 7% would vote for Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, 6% for former Vice President Mike Pence, 6% for former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, and 2% for former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

"A clear majority of primary voters under 35 years old, 64 percent, as well as 65 percent of those with at least a college degree — a leading indicator of political preferences inside the donor class — told pollsters they would vote against Mr. Trump in a presidential primary," according to The New York Times.

"Among primary voters, Mr. DeSantis was the top choice of younger Republicans, those with a college degree and those who said they voted for President Biden in 2020."

The News & Observer said that tickets to the American Freedom Tour were removed from the website on Friday without any post about the cancelation. The outlet then reached out to the tour for additional information, and received an apology email.

"We are very sorry that due to unforeseen circumstances we are rescheduling the American Freedom Tour stop in Greensboro, NC," an email reply from the American Freedom Tour said. "Your ticket may be used at any American Freedom Tour event in America."

It was noted that there is only one more tour date scheduled on the website for Aug. 20 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The New York Times/Siena poll also showed that Trump trailed President Joe Biden, 44% to 41%, in a hypothetical vote, despite Biden's current low approval rating.

"A growing anyone-but-Trump vote inside the party contributed to Mr. Trump’s deficit, with 16 percent of Republicans saying that if he were the nominee they would support Mr. Biden, would back a third-party candidate, wouldn’t vote at all or remained unsure what they would do," according to The New York Times.
