For months, speculation has swirled that former President Donald Trump was preparing to launch a bid for the White House in 2024.

Now, a new report indicates that Trump is inching closer and closer to saying he is running, with an announcement expected shortly after the midterm elections.

According to Axios, Trump's inner circle is discussing announcing the launch of a 2024 presidential campaign on November 14 — with the official announcement possibly followed by a multi-day series of political events. The report cited three sources familiar with "the sensitive discussions."

"With polls pointing toward a good night for Republicans on Tuesday, Trump plans to surf the GOP's expected post-midterm euphoria to build momentum for his own effort to retake the White House," Axios reported. "Look for Trump to take credit for Republican victories across the board — including those he propelled with his endorsements, and even those he had nothing to do with."

A Trump spokesman declined to comment on the report.

Sources familiar with the matter tell CNN that no date has been locked in and Trump could move up his desired announcement date or push it back – depending on how Republicans fare in the elections on Tuesday.

If and when Trump decides to announce his presidential campaign, it will likely be from one of the battleground states he narrowly lost to Joe Biden in 2020, or from Florida where he remains deeply popular among Republican voters, CNN noted.

At a rally in Iowa on Thursday, Trump told the audience to "get ready" for a re-election campaign.

"In order to make our country successful and safe and glorious, I will very, very, very probably do it again, OK? Very, very, very probably," Trump told the cheering crowd. "Get ready. That's all I'm telling you. Very soon. Get ready. Get ready."
