Former President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he is filing lawsuits against three of the country’s biggest tech companies and their CEO's.

In a statement made at Trump National Golf Club, Trump accused the social media giants Facebook, Twitter and Google of allegedly infringing upon his rights to free speech, claiming that he has been wrongfully censored.

Trump says he is serving as a lead plaintiff in the class-action suits, ordering an “immediate halt to social media companies’ shameful, illegal censorship of the American people” through the U.S. District Court for Florida’s southern district.

Members of the Trump family have encouraged followers to join the lawsuit through the America First Policy Institute non-profit organization.

The initial suspension on Trump’s accounts came after Trump supporters stormed the Capitol building on Jan. 6.

Companies involved in the suspension cited concerns that the former president would incite further violence.

Trump asked for the court to “impose punitive damage on these social media giants,” stating that he will seek injunctive relief to “allow prompt restitution.”

Fundraising notices were sent out via email and text message directly after the announcement, urging Trump supporters to “please contribute immediately.”

The former president’s previous attempts to retaliate against the account removals included launching his own social media platform.
