If Greenland was a soap opera storyline instead of a country, it would be plotting revenge with its evil twin as American President Donald Trump's rhetoric and imagery gets more and more outlandish.

Most recently, Trump trolled Greenland -- the entire country -- by posting an image of himself standing on it and planting a U.S. flag. If this was an episode of Looney Tunes, this would be the part where they cut to an outraged Foghorn Leghorn.

Trump shared the AI-generated image of Greenland as U.S. territory on Truth Social as he continues to push for the U.S. to take ownership from Denmark.

The image includes Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio posing with the Stars and Stripes on Greenland, which is marked as 'established as a U.S. territory in 2026.' In a separate AI-generated picture, European leaders — including British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni — gather around a map in the Oval Office that shows Greenland, Canada, and Venezuela as new parts of the U.S.

Trump also shared a private message to him from French President Emmanuel Macron saying the two leaders are aligned on Syria and Ukraine, but he "can't understand what you are doing on Greenland."

This comes as Trump's talk about taking over Greenland sparks tensions with European leaders. The president threatened tariffs on goods from the U.K., Denmark, and other European countries until a deal is reached for the U.S. to acquire Greenland. When Macron refused an offer to join Trump's private peace group for $1 billion, with plans for the group to oversee peace in Gaza, Trump retaliated by saying he'll tariff French wine and champagne at 200%.

Macron inferred that Trump was a bully, and European Union Commission President Ursula von der Leyen threatened retaliation over the tariffs.

“We consider the people of the United States not just our allies, but our friends,” Ursula von der Leyen said, adding:

“Our response will be unflinching, united and proportional.”
