On Friday, the United States Central Command conducted an airstrike in Eastern Syria, which resulted in the death of an ISIS leader.

The U.S. Central Command shared on Sunday that Usamah al-Muhajir was killed as a result of the strike on Friday and that there were “no indications that any civilians were killed in this strike,” as well as no sign that civilian injury was caused.

“We have made it clear that we remain committed to the defeat of ISIS throughout the region,” Gen. Michael “Erik” Kurilla, commander of U.S. Central Command, shared in the press release. “ISIS remains a threat, not only to the region but well beyond.”

The Central Command shared that ISIS’s ability to plan and conduct acts of terror will be disrupted as a result of al-Muhajir’s death.

“CENTCOM’s operations against ISIS, alongside partner forces in Iraq and Syria, will continue in order to achieve the group’s enduring defeat,” the press release shared.

The strike was conducted by the same MQ-9s that Central Command says were harassed by Russian aircraft in an encounter that had lasted almost two hours that same day.
