It's never too late to get your education and 90-year-old Ellouise Lewis is proof.

Lewis, a resident at Gulfport Care Center in Mississippi, dropped out of school decades ago when she was in the 10th grade. Recently, she fulfilled a dream by finally obtaining her GED.

"I never did get a chance to graduate until this day," the Gulfport, Mississippi resident told WLOX.

Lewis has lived a full life, but the one regret she had was not finishing high school. When staff at the nursing home heard about her wish, they set out to make her dream come true.

The nursing home reached out to a nearby learning center, which jumped at the chance to help. The center prepared a mock test for Lewis, which she passed with flying colors.

On Wednesday, the nursing home held a graduation ceremony for Lewis, who couldn't contain her excitement.

"When they told me here that I could get my GED, I was happy about it. I'm still happy," Lewis told WLOX. "Excuse me, because this makes me happy to know that I can do this."

Technically, it's not an official GED -- but the honorary certification was earned thanks to Lewis' knowledge and skills.
