Sometimes the long arm of the law takes time to strike, as police said it did in this case where a woman was arrested for allegedly drowning a dog in an airport bathroom in December 2024 because she couldn't take him on a flight.
ABC News reports that surveillance video shows the woman speaking to a gate agent for 15 minutes before disappearing into the bathroom. In that talk, she is reported to have learned she didn't have the proper paperwork to bring her dog Tywinn with her on a flight from Orlando to Colombia.
The suspect, Alison Lawrence of Orlando, is caught on tape taking the white miniature schnauzer into the bathroom and leaving without him.
After she departed, a worker discovered a dog dead in the trash along with his accessories. One of the things found with his body were dog tags with his name and Lawrence's name and phone number, police say.
Another person reported to police that she had walked into the bathroom and found Lawrence there cleaning up a pool of water on the floor and dog food.
Tywinn died by drowning.
“Someone that would do such a thing would be pretty disturbed upstairs,” a resident of Lawrence’s neighborhood told KBTX.
Lawrence is charged with aggravated animal cruelty, a third-degree felony. The judge ordered a $50,000/10% bond, which local reports say she already posted and has been released.
