Vice President Kamala Harris' stop-and-start appearance on "The View" last week reportedly remains a major source of frustration for her office.
Harris' staff "is vexed with" the ABC talk show after two hosts were pulled from the air due to false positive COVID-19 tests moments before the vice president was set to join them in New York City last Friday, CNN Business reported on Tuesday.
Sunny Hostin, Ana Navaro and all "The View" hosts underwent an expedited PCR test on Thursday afternoon at the best of Harris' office, the outlet reported. A show representative then gave the "all clear" Thursday night that Harris was on for an in-person interview, implying the hosts had tested negative.
Yet minutes before Harris was set to join the hosts on the set, Hostin and Navaro learned they had tested positive. Both women are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and subsequently tested negative three times.
Harris' team reportedly didn't learn of the positive tests until viewers did, and her staff reportedly remains "deeply concerned" about a lack of transparency from "The View" following Friday's taping. She conducted the interview remotely elsewhere within the building, using a pair of wired earbuds as an IFB earpiece.
CNN Business reported that ABC News President Kim Godwin "was irked and embarrassed" after attending the taping. Neither ABC News, "The View" nor the vice president’s office commented on the original report.
