An 18-year-old woman is dead and a 19-year-old man is on life support after a shooting at a Southern California movie theater on Monday night.

The Corona Police Department said Tuesday night they are now investigating the shooting as a homicide.

Police said Rylee Goodrich, 18, and Anthony Barajas, 19, were shot during a 9:35 p.m. showing of "The Forever Purge" they attended together on Monday.

Officers first responded to a call from the Regal Edwards Corona Crossings Theater at around 11:45 p.m. on Monday night.

Goodrich died at the scene, while Barajas was transported to a local hospital.

Investigators recovered evidence at the scene on Tuesday, but they didn’t find a gun inside the theater.

"Detectives are conducting follow-up on all investigative leads with hopes of identifying the person(s) responsible for this heinous crime," the department said in a statement.
