Green Bay Packers quarterback and NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers donated $1 million Monday to 80 businesses in his hometown of Chico and across Butte County.
Aaron Rodgers' Small-Business COVID-19 Fund at North Valley Community Foundation in Chico is covering the costs for three months of rent, or longer in some cases, for 80 restaurants and retail businesses in the area.
Rodgers broke the news of the grants to nine of the businesses himself.
The businesses receiving the grants submitted videos and applications over the past few months hoping to receive the funds. Rodgers bumped up his donation from $500,000 to $1 million.
Back in 2018, the quarterback and former UC Berkeley quarterback also donated $1 million to victims of the devastating Camp Fire and raised an additional $3 million through fans and sponsors.
