Although the majority of state residents are welcoming this week’s reopenings with open arms, some remain skeptical.

According to a new Eyewitness News poll of 600 Californians published on Tuesday, roughly one in five said they thought it’s too soon to ease the state’s COVID-19 restrictions.

Among those polled, 42% said the June 15 date feels appropriate, while 25% said the reopening is overdue and the remaining 11% were unsure.

Even with everything reopening, a majority, 64%, said they would continue wearing a mask indoors despite it no longer being required. A little less than a quarter said they will not wear a mask indoors and 12% weren't sure.

Not wearing a mask outdoors appears to be an easier choice than indoors.

Numbers shifted when it came to mask wearing outdoors.

Around 44% said they will continue wearing a mask in outdoor public places while 45% said they will not.

Additionally, 46% of people said they felt masks were still necessary and 54% said they would be more inclined to patronize businesses where employees still wear face coverings.
