LOS ANGELES (KNX) – An American Airlines flight to Los Angeles was diverted after a passenger made a "threatening statement" to a crew member, according to a spokesperson for the airline.

The flight from North Carolina was diverted to New Mexico at 10: 25 p.m. The passengers involved in the incident were deplaned.
Local law enforcement officers met with the passengers involved, according to the Charlotte Observer.
The flight later re-departed to Los Angeles, a spokesperson for the airline told CNN.
"We thank our crew for their professionalism and apologize to our customers for any inconvenience this caused to their travel plans,” they said in a statement.
It is unclear exactly what the passenger said; however, the FBI is investigating.
The incident is just one of many occurring as airline officials are asking for measures to be put in place following a rise in unruly passengers.
Most recently, in a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, Delta Airlines CEO Ed Bastian urged the Justice Department to establish a “no-fly list” for people who were convicted of unruly behavior on an airplane to “prevent future incidents and serve as a strong symbol of the consequences of not complying with crew member instructions on commercial aircraft.”
