Major League Baseball and its players' union have extended administrative leave once more for L.A. Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer, who has been under investigation for alleged sexual assault since June.

It is the eighth time the league has extended Bauer's leave, which will now run through Sept. 10.

Bauer was first placed on leave in early July, shortly after the sexual assault allegations against him became public. His accuser's request for a permanent restraining order against the pitcher was denied by an L.A. Superior Court judge on Aug. 19.

Bauer has been accused by a San Diego woman of choking her until she lost consciousness during a sexual encounter, as well as punching her several times and leaving her with injuries that necessitated hospitalization.

The Pasadena Police Department has been spearheading the criminal investigation into the allegations against Bauer. They presented the results of that investigation, connected with two incidents involving the San Diego woman that allegedly occurred at Bauer's home, to the office of L.A County D.A. George Gascón on Aug. 27.

Gascón's office has not yet announced whether they will pursue charges against the pitcher.

An internal investigation by the MLB is ongoing. Bauer has repeatedly denied all wrongdoing, and insists encounters between himself and his accuser were entirely consensual.
