Cheers to California’s beer and wine lovers.
The state’s Department of Public Health on Thursday updated its guidance for non-food-serving breweries, wineries, distilleries and bars, an industry that's been economically ravaged by the COVID-19 crisis.
Provided meals aren’t served, breweries, wineries and distilleries are eligible to reopen for outdoor service in the purple and red tiers beginning Saturday. Any customers must observe a 90-minute time limit and service ends at 8 p.m.
These locations were previously closed in the purple and red tiers.
Capacity jumps to 25% or 100 people in the orange tier and 50% or 200 people in the yellow tier, whichever is less.
As a distinction, breweries, wineries, distilleries that do serve food will continue to follow the state’s COVID-19 guidance for restaurants.
For bars, it’s a bit different.
Ones that don’t serve food will remain closed in the purple and red tiers. In the orange tier, they can reopen for outdoor service, and 25% or 100 people are allowed indoors once the county enters the yellow tier.
The state also announced that overnight sleepover camping is allowed to resume on June 1, with modifications, in the red, orange and yellow tiers.
