The Pomona Fairplex is set to open its doors Saturday to welcome the first 250 unaccompanied migrant children who will be sheltered there temporarily.
Along with being fed three meals a day, the kids will be provided with medical and mental health services as well as educational instruction. They will also have plenty of space to play outside.
Pomona Mayor Tim Sandoval says "As we work to reunite them with their families, we are committed to their safety and care."
"The goal of this emergency intake site is to be able to partner and to provide a dignified, safe, comfortable and caring environment," says Chair of the LA County Board of Supervisors Hilda Solis.
The Pomona Fairplex is the latest venue in LA County that will serve as a temporary shelter.
The Long Beach Convention Center began welcoming migrant children last week.
