Lawmakers in Sacramento still have to pass a budget bill that would expand the Golden State Stimulus allowing most families in the state to receive anywhere from $600 to $1,100.
United Way of California President Peter Manzo is urging them to quickly get this done.
"Doing so will provide additional relief and funds to help these working families cover unexpected expenses with necessities like rent, medical bills, groceries and more," he says.
State lawmakers approved a 264 billion dollar budget last week.
Governor Newsom is set to sign it soon.
The new stimulus money was not included because it has to be done in a separate bill.
Families making up to $75,000 a year are eligible for the stimulus money.
They have to file their 2020 taxes by Oct. 15 to get it.
