A Southern California man drowned in Lake Tahoe on Tuesday after jumping from a boat.
Authorities responded to radio calls Tuesday afternoon, reporting a man having difficulty swimming after he jumped off a boat without a life jacket on.
When the authorities arrived, the man was still struggling to stay afloat, but by the time they pulled him from the water and transported him to the shore, he was no longer responsive, SFGate reported.
Officials attempted to resuscitate the man, but he was pronounced dead shortly after the rescue.
The man’s family was on the boat at the time of the incident, but according to investigators, none of them knew how to maneuver the boat to get closer to him.
The Southern California man’s death follows three other drownings in Lake Tahoe in the past month, the newspaper said. One was as recent as last week.
Two of the other drownings were also ruled as boating-related incidents.
